We created The Paddocks Dog Daycare to provide a place for dogs to experience daily life enrichment as nature intended.
The Paddocks is an outdoor dog daycare facility with grass, open space, trees, shrubs and sunshine which will become your dogs favourite place to visit. Our approach is to provide your dog with the freedom to explore our space as they wish, while we supervise, interact and ensure good manners .
We are the Montessori of dog daycares!
We have experienced great success with this approach, fostering an environment for socialisation where they feel safe, form natural friendships and return home calm, and eagerly awaiting their next visit.
Our daycare runs Monday - Friday throughout the year with a shutdown period for 2 weeks over Christmas (21 Dec 2024 - 5 Jan 2025)
We are offering weekly and fortnightly positions throughout 2024 and 2025.
We require a minimum fortnight attendance.
We no longer offer any casual attendances.
We have commenced dog Daycare collections from the Port Stephens area on Wednesday's each week.
We have a waitlist available which will allow us to open collection for additional days when minimum numbers are met.
If you are from the Port Stephens area and would like your dog to attend doggy daycare with us, please leave your details below to be waitlisted.
If you wish to come and view The Paddocks in person, we can arrange this in non-daycare time. We do not allow guests to drop in during daycare hours due to the disruption this causes our packs.
We pick up between 7:00am-9:30am and drop home between 3:00pm-5:30pm on weekdays.
It is not necessary that you be home for pick up or drop off, we can discuss where your dog can be collected from and returned to in your absence.
Your dog will spend their day rotating through the various play paddocks and participating in the different enrichment activities The Paddocks offers: natural clay swimming dam, river sand digging sandpit, beach sand sand pit, timber and tyre fun fort, natural shrub and sapling snuffle zone, natural climb & jump obstacles, green tunnels, cable reel jumps, shaded tree rest areas, wide open grass fields, fetch, chase, group walks & independent play.
We have a minimum of 2 rest times during the day where we come together in our rest paddock beneath big beautiful shady trees. During these designated times, we cease to throw balls and instead offer pats and cuddles to encourage dogs to slow down and relax. Rest frequency and duration increases during hot weather, with older dogs and young pups.
We understand that your dog leaving for their first day of 'school' can leave you feeling a little anxious. On their first day, we try to ease this for you by touching base and providing you with an update on how your dog is going. We also provide updates throughout the day via our social media pages through our posts and our stories. Be sure to follow us to stay up-to-date with all the fun at The Paddocks on Facebook and Instagram @embarkdogco
As an outdoor facility, we do need to work with our weather. While the forecast is handy, it is not always reliable. We review the forecast weather conditions for the week ahead and will communicate with you directly to advise of any cancellations. We try to reschedule for the same week where possible, however, this is not alway possible. We do not charge for any days that we schedule to be cancelled due to weather.
We continue to run daycare on days where rain is forecast to be minimal and passing. Daycare is cancelled on days where rain is forecast to be high and constant. A sun shower is fun for dogs and humans alike, but a torrential downpour is less enjoyable. In the event that torrential rain and storms arrive unexpectedly, we will pack up for the day and drop your dogs home earlier.
Our location is aptly named "windy hill" as when there is a slight breeze elsewhere, we get a big one!
Combined with our large beautiful trees, dam and splash pools, there is almost always a way to stay cool.
Occasionally, however, some days are just too hot and for the health and safety of your dogs and our staff, we cancel daycare on days when the forecast temperature is 35-degrees or more and assess the days forecast between 30 & 35-degrees.
Vaccination
All attendees must be covered by a current C5 vaccination against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza and Bordetella (Kennel Cough).
A copy of their current vaccination certificate from their veterinarian is required for you to complete their enrolment.
Desexing
We require all male attendees to be desexed prior to attending daycare.
A copy of their desexing certificate from their veterinarian is required for you to complete their daycare enrolment.
We do not require females be desexed, however, we do require that females who come into season do not attend daycare for the duration of their season.
Attendance
Our dog daycare runs like a school in that having the right combination of dogs in their 'pack' or 'class' is a big priority. Matching play styles, temperaments and correctly introducing new dogs is important in maintaining a happy, safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees. Due to this, we only accept dogs who wish to attend daycare on a regular basis: weekly or fortnightly.
Socialisation
All dogs wishing to attend The Paddocks must have had prior socialisation. We are unable to accept dogs who have not been socialised, are highly anxious, reactive or aggressive. Our vision is to provide a safe space for dogs to play, enjoy and be happy. For this to be achieved, dogs must be relaxed and feel safe. Some dogs will not suit the stimulation offered at The Paddocks. If you are unsure if your dog is suited to daycare, please get in touch with us via email hello@embarkdog.co to discuss further
We are able to offer dog trainer referrals to assist in your dog with any problematic behaviours and be able to enrol in daycare in the future.

Please reach us at hello@embarkdog.co if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Please get in touch with us at hello@embarkdog.co and we will discuss your location and whether we are able to offer pick up and drop off at this time or in the near future.
We do not allow owners to drop their own dogs off or to pick them up as having visitors coming and going overly excites and disrupts our daycare attendees. While our pick up and drop off service offers convenience to owners, it also ensures dogs begin their interaction in the safety of their travel crate and all dogs arrive at the same time.
We offer viewing of The Paddocks Dog Daycare facility by appointment only on days we do not run daycare. This prevents our attendees being disrupted and becoming over stimulated. We offer viewings by appointment only, 10am on select Sundays.
We do not have specific days based on dog size. We can and do separate dogs based on play temperament and are mindful of individual dogs play style while at daycare. If we have dogs who enjoy playing together in a boisterous manner, we separate these dogs into their own space which ensures all daycare attendees have the opportunity to have fun and play safely.
We require your dog to be wearing a collar and come with their lead. If you walk your dog on a harness, please send this with them for their first day as it is required to assist with their introduction into the pack. Staff will chat with you at drop home time to discuss whether you might need to send their harness on their next visits.
No. Unless you feed your dog lunch, it is not necessary to send food with them.
In our daycare environment, we can separate a dog to allow it time to eat, however, rarely have we seen a dog be interested in eating their meal separated whilst at daycare.
We regularly provide treats in a group setting to encourage obedient behaviours and to enrich through a snuffle 'hunt' activity. Any dogs identified as food aggressive will be removed from the area prior to the activity and provided with alternative enrichment play.
